====== Software Tools ====== Our group uses a large amount of software to design, simulate, and operate robots. The following pages list the specific software we use / have available, and tips and instructions on how to use it. * [[2d_design|2D Layout/Design]]: layers of 2D shapes ready for microfabrication. * [[3d_design|3D Design]]: 3D models of robots, sensors, etc, but cannot handle as much complexity as 2D design. * [[ic_design|IC Design]]: specifically for designing integrated circuits (ICs). Circuit specification, 2D layout, and electrical simulation. * [[pcb_design|PCB Design]]: specifically for designing printed circuit boards (PCBs). Circuit specification and (usually) 2D layout. * [[rendering|Rendering]]: photorealistic computer-generated images of 3D designs. * [[simulation|Simulation]]: computer simulation of electrical, mechanical, thermal, or other systems.
