The goal of this project is to develop the necessary control system and actuators to enable autonomous millimeter-scale rockets and other aerial vehicles. The proposed rocket control surfaces consist of silicon plates connected to electrostatic inchworm motors and planar linkages that are fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator wafer. These actuators will be driven by high voltage buffers and will be controlled by an electronic system consisting of the Single Chip micro Mote, an inertial measurement unit, and a CMOS camera.
