About the Group
This is an old revision of the document!
Hello, world!
I'm a PhD student in EECS; Prof. Pister is my advisor. I joined the group in fall 2019 after graduating with BS degrees in mechanical engineering and math from the University of Texas at Austin.
I study micromanufacturing. I build some of our group's tiny robots because it's what the group is doing (and because it's fun), but I most like to improve the methods we use to build them, not least because better manufacturing capabilities means we can make much better robots! My ultimate research goals include science fiction like molecular nanotechnology, but that won't happen for an extremely long time.
I'm currently best at microfabrication, mechanical engineering, and software, so I can help out if stuff needs to be microfabricated in the Marvell NanoLab or 3D printed / lasercut in the Jacobs Hall makerspace. I also run this website.
I started on the mems_gripper project in fall 2019. Since its DARPA grant expired in 2020, I've been building new grippers as tests for a number of improvements to our inchworm motors and robot assembly methods.
In the future, I might work on uleap_asteroid_robots, if it gets NIAC funding. I almost have a better electrostatic linear motor design worked out, and I'm considering possible ways to 3D print MEMS.
